# Continuing the trend of tie-ups and contracts from 2013, Wipro replaces Accenture for a 10 year contract with UK based Carillion, as its sole preferred strategic partner for integrated IT and BPO services. The deal was clinched at more than $100 million.

# A three-year old US based Retail solutions start-up Theatro, is opening its first overseas office at Bangalore, to focus on new technologies around cloud, big data and predictive analytics. With plans to roll out a dedicated communication device to a major national retail chain and immediate hiring plans, this is a company to keep a tab on for innovative retail analytics solutions /products.

# Another news on the hotting up retail front. American retailing company Target has launched its Accelerator Program for Indian retail start-ups, integrating social commerce, mobile and analytics to begin with.

# LinkedIn’s revamped profile view analytics feature  is welcome news for its more than 20 million users in India. The enhanced graphical display and increased granular data is aimed to offer insights into ‘who is interested professionally’ and analyse the trends.

# Closer home, the Indian Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) has contracted with Civolution to build a technology framework for digital audience /TV analytics.

# Wrapping up on a dampening note with the Moody Analytics’ prediction – that a Narendra Modi win is still unlikely to boost growth despite chances of better “business friendly” governance – the heat continues in the countdown to the oncoming May elections, with analytics sure to play a “BIG” role.

So we wrap-up February with continuing news-stream in the Indian Analytics industry – smarter applications, mobile engagement, increased adoption by SMEs, innovations in retail analytics and US/UK partnerships.
