R Python
Purpose R is a statistical modelling tool basically meant for statisticians. Python is a general purpose programming language, compatible across all platforms
 

Integrated Development Environment

 

RStudio, Rattle, Visual Studio for R, Eclipse, etc.

 

Pycharm, Pydev, Spyder, IPython Notebook, etc.

 

Flexibility

 

R can compute statistical models using few lines of codes. Moreover majority of statistical tests are available as packages in R

 

Python is flexible in computing algorithms, scripting websites, making softwares, building apps, etc.
