Some of the well-known data minds have directly or indirectly helped in revolutionising the field of Data Science.
Elon Musk: – Elon Reeve Musk, a name with many capabilities. One of the most talked-about persons of the present time, Elon Musk is the founder, CEO, and CTO of SpaceX; a co-founder, a Series A investor, CEO, and product architect of Tesla Inc.; co-chairman of OpenAI; founder and CEO of Neuralink. With Neuralink Elon plans to merge the human mind with AI.
Debashish Banerjee: – Managing Director, Deloitte Consulting India Pvt. Ltd., Debashish Banerjee has close to 17 years of experience in variety of actuarial, analytics and data science projects. He has been recognized as one of the top 10 Most Influential Analytics & Data Science Leaders in India – 2017 by Analytics India Magazine.
Mark Zuckerberg: – A name known to all, Mark Zuckerberg is a co-founder of Facebook, and currently operates as its chairman and chief executive officer. Generating more than millions of gigabytes of data, Facebook also houses the world’s largest Hadoop cluster. Mark also owns Oclus, which has been using data science for virtual reality.
Saket Kumar, Chief Data Scientist at Google: – With more than 15 years of experience in the field of analytics, Dr Saket kumar has successfully been a part of various analytics assignments. Presently, he leads a team of Data Scientists to improve the effectiveness of its major clients. Saket has PhD from the University of Washington with a thesis on Multivariate Analysis techniques in Understanding Complex Industrial Processes.
Geoffrey Hinton: – Most noted for his work on artificial neural networks, Geoffrey Hinton leads an AI team at google and also works at the University of Toronto. Back Propagation and Dark Knowledge are few terms in Data Science that are credited to him.
Monica Rogati:- A PhD in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University, Monica Rogati has been an Advisor and Guest Lecturer at Stanford University along with being an independent Data Science and AI Advisor. Her interest area is in Machine learning and Text mining.
Anand S –An alumni of IIM Bangalore and IIT Madras, Anand has worked with many big firms like IBM, Lehman Brothers, The Boston Consulting Group and Infosys Consulting. Anand believes “Tools are never the concern, the motive and the execution is”. Presently he is the CEO and chief data scientist at Gramener.
Yann Lecun: – Presently the director of the AI Research wing at Facebook, Yann Lecun is well known for his work on optical character recognition and computer vision using CNN. He is also the co-developer of the Lush programming language and the founding father of convolution nets.
DJ Patil: – The co-founder of the term “Data Science”, Dhanurjay Patil is a former Chief Data Scientist at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. Having several Patents in his name, DJ Patil has a PhD from the University of Maryland and College Park. The research area is applied nonlinear dynamics, chaos theory, and complexity.
Rajeev Rastogi: – A PhD from the University of Texas Austin in computer science, Rajeev Rastogi is the Director of Machine Learning at Amazon. He has been named a Bell Labs Fellow in 2003 and an ACM Fellow in 2012 for his contributions to Lucent’s networking products and data analysis and management respectively.
