The year 2014 witnessed\u00a0a significant\u00a0shift in workplace demands across the country. Skill sets that display high levels of interpersonal skills are now in greater demand. As 89 percent of businesses worry about the quality of future leaders, people-centric soft\u00a0skills\u00a0occupy space in new hiring criteria.<\/p>\n

Employers are faced with\u00a0an\u00a0always-connected\u00a0generation inseparable from\u00a0their mobile devices. They report a lack of people-skills among the tech savvy \u2018Generation Awkward\u2019 – as they call the generation of young professionals brought up on a diet of social media and rote learning.<\/p>\n

According to the recent groundbreaking\u00a0 survey<\/a> conducted by global management consultancy Hay Group<\/a>,<\/p>\n

\u201cbusinesses across India are reporting that it is becoming increasingly difficult to hire graduates who have the self-awareness and self-management skills to succeed in their organizations.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
