So you know all about IQ and EQ tests. While different IQ (Intelligent Quotient) tests assess your visual, mathematical and even language abilities they also run a check on your memory and information processing speed against a score. EQ (Emotional Intelligence Quotient) tests on the other hand, evaluate the emotional ability to perceive, control and persevere.<\/p>\n<p>However, neither IQ nor EQ tests tell you how ready you are\u00a0for the\u00a0profession\u00a0of analytics.<\/p>\n<p>So enter the new-age jargon, PAQ \u2013 the Personal Analytical Quotient.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike the AQ (Analytics Quotient) devised by <a href=\"http:\/\/www-01.ibm.com\/software\/analytics\/aq\/\">IBM<\/a> solely to test an organisation\u2019s level of analytic adoption, the Personal AQ is the measure of an <strong>individual\u2019s<\/strong> readiness, ability and capacity to apply insights.<\/p>\n<p>As a student or mid-career professional wanting to polish up your existing academic qualifications with an additional certification, you may want to know whether to take an Analytics course.<\/p>\n<p>So this is where the Personal AQ test comes into play. It measures whether analytics is there in your DNA. In other words, do you have a curious mind, do you possess an analytical disposition or do you accept what you see at face value? Do you like playing with stats and graphs or prefer being out on the field?<\/p>\n<p>Take this simple and rudimentary Personal AQ test, to see if you are cut-out for a career in Analytics!<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>1. What was your favourite subject in school?<\/p>\n<p>a)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mathematics<\/p>\n<p>b)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Economics<\/p>\n<p>c)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Geography<\/p>\n<p>2. When you are standing in front of a store-shelf with various discount offers, you<\/p>\n<p>a)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Opt for a product-mix for an optimal buying experience<\/p>\n<p>b)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Go for the product with the biggest discount<\/p>\n<p>c)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Get perplexed and walk away<\/p>\n<p>3. When you make a budget, you<\/p>\n<p>a)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 allow for contingencies<\/p>\n<p>b)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 keep in mind, the need to rework the budget<\/p>\n<p>c)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 keep your fingers crossed that everything works out as planned<\/p>\n<p>4. When confronted with a problem, you<\/p>\n<p>a)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 List all pros and cons on paper and work out what to do<\/p>\n<p>a)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Work it out in your mind<\/p>\n<p>b)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Toss a coin<\/p>\n<p>5. What irritates you most about other people?<\/p>\n<p>a)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Untidiness<\/p>\n<p>b)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Lying<\/p>\n<p>c)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Rude behaviour<\/p>\n<p>6. What is your favourite section in the newspaper?<\/p>\n<p>a)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Business Pages<\/p>\n<p>b)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Politics<\/p>\n<p>c)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Entertainment<\/p>\n<p>7. When you meet a long-lost friend how do you remember his contact number<\/p>\n<p>a)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Memorise it instantly<\/p>\n<p>b)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Feed it into your cell phone<\/p>\n<p>c)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Jot it down somewhere and maybe forget it<\/p>\n<p>8. What would you do if your bathroom is flooded?<\/p>\n<p>a) locate the source of flooding or leakage<\/p>\n<p>b) prevent run-off outside the bathroom<\/p>\n<p>c) call up the plumber<\/p>\n<p>9. What do you ask for when unable to solve a persistent problem?<\/p>\n<p>a) additional information<\/p>\n<p>b) more people on the job<\/p>\n<p>c) more time<\/p>\n<p>10. Say, you enter a restaurant for the first time. It is only when you look at the menu prices that you realize it is way beyond your budget. What would you do?<\/p>\n<p>a) quickly assess the situation and devise a neat getaway<\/p>\n<p>b) mentally calculate if you have the money for the cheapest item on menu and grit it out<\/p>\n<p>c) tell the hovering waiter you are not carrying sufficient money<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Scoring: each \u00a0a) = 3 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 b) = 2 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 c) = 1<\/p>\n<p>If your total score is above 20, you aredefinitely cut-out for a career in analytics.<\/p>\n<p>For scores between 15-20, you need to assess how closely your temperament fits in with your career choice. Do you have the ability to think on your feet? Do you love your numbers? Do fact-finding missions excite you?
