Addressing the inaugural of the Big Data Analytics summit, Keshav Murugesh, Nasscom&#8217;s Big Data Analytics Interest Group, said more and more companies will have chief data scientists and chief analytics officer.<\/p>\n<p>Good news for wannabe analytics professionals!<\/p>\n<p><b>New launches \u2013 start-ups, services, vendor products<\/b><\/p>\n<p># Yet another Indian start-up focuses on online retailing.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/forbesindia.com\/article\/work-in-progress\/infinite-analytics-small-company-big-data-bigger-ambition\/37918\/1\">Infinite Analytics<\/a>\u00a0(conceived at MIT) is backed by internet pioneers and global investors . It taps the enormous potential of the e-commerce market with the promise of real-time predictions of consumer trends and preferences<\/p>\n<p># As the power of Analytics becomes popular, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.computerworld.in\/news\/microsoft-aims-to-take-predictive-analytics-mainstream\">Microsoft launches the all-new Microsoft Azure Machine Learning service<\/a> \u2013 a fully managed cloud service for building predictive analytics solutions into common machine learning tasks \u2013 with the intention of bringing predictive analytics to the masses.<\/p>\n<p># India\u2019s leading digital content solutions provider, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.indiantelevision.com\/mam\/media-and-advertising\/digital-agencies\/tangerine-digital-launches-analytics-driven-content-solution-for-fmcg-industry-140602\">Tangerine Digital, has announced the launch of its Analytics Driven Content Services<\/a> to aid FMCG companies enhance their customer engagement across digital platforms.<\/p>\n<p># Data analytics software vendor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.co.in\/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=&amp;esrc=s&amp;source=web&amp;cd=1&amp;cad=rja&amp;uact=8&amp;ved=0CB0QFjAA&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sas.com%2F&amp;ei=0PewU7eNM8eIuATWyYGoCA&amp;usg=AFQjCNGCQA0_ErWp4NghuPSwQ4PHtjntoQ\">SAS<\/a> too gears for analytics learning. It recently <a href=\"http:\/\/www.computerworld.in\/news\/sas-launches-free-analytics-software-for-colleges-to-address-big-data-skills-gap\">launched the free SAS University Edition<\/a>, which is expected to help the higher education sector generate statistical skills needed to fill the big data skills gap. The package includes access to the SAS Analytics user community, for user-interaction, idea-sharing, and SAS resources.<\/p>\n<p><b>Applications<\/b><\/p>\n<p># In the application domain, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.indiantelevision.com\/television\/tv-channels\/sports\/sap-analytics-drives-kkr-to-lift-pepsi-ipl-2014-trophy-140604\">Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) applied SAP Auction Analytics<\/a> to gain a competitive advantage over other teams by picking the right players at the right price.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0 SAP HANA based platforms including SAP Auction Analytics, SAP Game Analytics and SAP Lumira enabled KKR &#8220;to evaluate players during the auction, derive post-game analytics following each of the team\u2019s games, and drive fan engagement respectively, during the Pepsi IPL 2014\u201d.<\/p>\n<p># <a href=\"https:\/\/ivyproschool.com\/blog\/blog\/2014\/06\/24\/how-predictive-analytics-drives-competitive-advantage-in-online-retailing\/\">This Blog<\/a> earlier highlighted the deployment of analytics in online retailing. Now <a href=\"http:\/\/profit.ndtv.com\/news\/corporates\/article-flipkart-to-use-analytics-market-data-to-help-smes-scale-up-business-536332\">Flipkart announces the use of Analytics to help SMEs scale up business<\/a>. It intends to provide micro, small and medium entrepreneurs in India with\u00a0 infrastructural support in data analytics, marketing and customer acquisition.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;With the help of strong data analytics that forms the base of e-marketplaces, it is easier for sellers to improve their products and services, thereby attracting more customers&#8221;.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><b>Acquisitions &amp; Market expansions<\/b><\/p>\n<p># Indian firm <a href=\"http:\/\/www.milessoft.com\/\">Miles Software Solutions<\/a> has <a href=\"http:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/tech\/software\/miles-software-acquires-beans-intellect-to-build-wealth-solutions\/articleshow\/37485831.cms\">acquired Mumbai-based startup Beans &amp; Intellect Financial Technology<\/a> to enhance its wealth and asset management solutions. Beans &amp; Intellect provides portfolio risk analytics technology to financial institutions in India, the Middle East and South-East Asia.<\/p>\n<p>The acquisition will not only help them analyse their customers in the next two years\u2019 persepctive,\u00a0but also give them a competitive edge.<\/p>\n<p># <a href=\"http:\/\/news.gnom.es\/pr\/business-analytics-firm-tableau-software-launches-in-india\">Tableau Software,<\/a> a global leader in rapid-fire, easy-to-use\u00a0business analytics\u00a0software, has announced its launch in\u00a0India.<\/p>\n<p># After Mumbai and Gurgaon, Data Analytics firm <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/business\/Industry\/fractal-analytics-to-set-up-office-in-bangalore\/article6148686.ece\">Fractal Analytics is all set to launch its office in Bangalore,<\/a> with plans of investing $20 million over the next three years. The Bangalore office is expected to have 300 staffers, mostly fresh students.<\/p>\n<p><b>Legalities &amp; Regulations<\/b><\/p>\n<p># From online retailers to companies \u2013 all firms outsourcing work to Indian back-offices, ITES, and analytics firms will be <a href=\"http:\/\/www.livemint.com\/Industry\/rK3EIukCDG9JJomzIJAbjM\/Online-retailers-may-have-to-register-in-India.html\">required to register in India.<\/a> This will regulate operations in the context of the Companies Act of 2013.<\/p>\n<p><b>Awards<\/b><\/p>\n<p># Sapience Analytics received the coveted <a href=\"http:\/\/www.digitaljournal.com\/pr\/2022214\">Frost &amp; Sullivan ICT Award for Product Innovation in Functional Analytics<\/a>.
