This month, we featured blogs that covered the hot topic of <a href=\"https:\/\/ivyproschool.com\/blog\/blog\/2014\/04\/17\/spotlight-sentiment-analysis\/\">election analytics<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/ivyproschool.com\/blog\/blog\/2014\/04\/16\/featured-start-up-of-the-month-zt-analytics-hyderabad\/\">start-up ZT Analytics<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Yet another first,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ivyproschool.com\/blog\/blog\/2014\/04\/27\/how-bayesian-predictive-modelling-is-used-for-election-analysis\/\">a competition for our students &#8211; designing a Bayesian model for election analysis.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>\u2026.more from the Indian Analytics industry<\/b><\/p>\n<p># Continuing the ongoing <a href=\"https:\/\/ivyproschool.com\/blog\/blog\/2014\/01\/08\/2013-wrap-up-top-10-news-in-the-indian-analytics-industry\/\">trend of tie-ups and contracts from 2013<\/a>, India\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/tech\/tech-news\/Tech-Mahindra-acquires-US-analytics-startup-FixStream\/articleshow\/34077378.cms\">Tech Mahindra acquired 75 % stake in US Big Data Analytics start-up FixStream Network Inc <\/a>\u00a0\u2013 to take advantage of the FixStream \u201c<i>technology platform that mines hidden insights, patterns and unknown correlations from huge amount of data in datacenters<\/i>\u201d.\u00a0 Tech Mahindra takes advantage of the in-depth integration and analytics platform developed by FSNI (founded in May 2013 by two Indians Abhinav and Sameer Padhye), that applies correlations never existed before \u2013 making silos redundant.<\/p>\n<p># <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bestmediainfo.com\/2014\/04\/network18-microsoft-set-up-analytics-centre-for-india-elections-2014\/\">TV Channel Network18 and Microsoft set up analytics centre<\/a> for the India elections 2014 to create the <b>CNN-IBN \u2013 Microsoft Election Analytics Centre<\/b>. This leverages Microsoft software and hardware technologies to bring deep analysis, trends and data visualization during the General Elections 2014.<\/p>\n<p># The volatility of the Lok Sabha Elections 2014 has made analytics a core aspect offering insights like never before. In a latent move, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.firstpost.com\/politics\/elections-2014-tcs-ties-up-with-twitter-to-create-ielect-social-tracker-1480445.html\">TCS tied up with Twitter to create the iElect social tracker<\/a>. \u00a0\u201c<i>The app harnesses the power of social media, big data, analytics and mobility to make sense of what seems to be a complex web of conversations<\/i>\u201d besides engaging users to participate actively through the entire process in real-time.<\/p>\n<p># Keeping ahead with the dynamic character of the 2014 elections, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.directionsmag.in\/articles\/google-india-gears-up-for-elections-2014\/393434\">Google India revamped its election hub<\/a> to include features such as Pledge to Vote campaign, a &#8216;Google score&#8217; tool for politicians, a search trend info-graphics, YouTube election playlists and Hangout series for users. \u00a0While Facebook launched the <a href=\"http:\/\/articles.economictimes.indiatimes.com\/2014-03-04\/news\/47894882_1_facebook-india-ankhi-das-network-facebook\">election tracker app<\/a>, an interactive dashboard to track conversations.<\/p>\n<p># <a href=\"http:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/tech\/ites\/infosys-goes-wipro-way-to-merge-data-analytics-operations-under-one-roof\/articleshow\/33834831.cms\">Infosys merges data analytics operations under one roof<\/a>, with an idea to increase its share of revenues from technologies like data analytics, cloud and social. The division, yet to be formally launched, proposes 300 specialists with plans \u201c<i>to recruit people with backgrounds in data sciences and statistics<\/i>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p># According to the PWC 6th Annual Digital IQ Survey, cloud, mobile, social, data mining, analytics and cyber security have emerged as the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.informationweek.in\/informationweek\/news-analysis\/295578\/analytics-cyber-security-emerge-investment-priorities-indian-firms-pwc-survey?utm_source=rss&amp;utm_medium=rss&amp;utm_campaign=data-analytics-cyber-security-emerge-as-top-investment-priorities-fo\">top investment priorities<\/a> among companies in India this year.<\/p>\n<p># Another upbeat news on the analytics job scope front, demand for analytics professionals in India grew by 80% last year, as per the <a href=\"http:\/\/analyticsindiamag.com\/analytics-india-jobs-study-2013\/\">Analytics India Jobs Study<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>#Wrapping up with an innovative application area of analytics. <b>Meru Cabs<\/b>, India\u2019s largest radio cab service across 8 cities, has not stopped at its call centre service, but <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moneycontrol.com\/news\/features\/indias-taxi-king-transforms-transport-landscape_1076216.html\">is also making use of analytics<\/a> to analyse trends to predict and design cab availability.
