#    While February began with a buzz about Adobe and WPP among companies seeking to acquire  Bangalore based social media analytics start-up Simplify360 , it brought home the fact that converting millions of Tweets and social media posts into real insights is the Holy Grail for marketers.

#    Exciting news on the governance front – The Indian National Intelligence Grid (NATGRID), a network of 21 intelligence sources across the country, proposes to integrate real-time analytics in its data centre and disaster recovery system.

#    Bangalore based talent analytics start-up, Talent Neuron, that produces a management solution using cloud-based big data methodologies was acquired by U.S. member advisory company CEB for $15 million. Talent Neuron makes for an interesting case study of incubation of  idea, using existing knowledge within a company – a first in the Indian ecosystem?

#     SAP Labs India, will be leveraging the SAP HANA platform to develop a statistical analysis tool for the Kolkata Knight Riders. This allowed to stream line decision making during the IPL 7 player Auction in Bangalore on February 12. Players were evaluated based on multiple parameters using principles of Design Thinking and the predictive analytics capabilities of SAP HANA. The product is aptly called SAP Auction Analytics.

This brings home the fact that the trend of ‘acquisitions’ continues from 2013, while three of our in-house predictions for 2014 have already shown-up with Big Data maturity, smarter applications (what else but cricket?) and increased cloud adoption. The Talent Neuron acquisition prompts us to update out spotlight series with HR Analytics. So keep reading.

Exciting times are ahead for the Indian analytics industry!
